StreamMenuReader

StreamMenuReader is how Stream's menu reader introduces itself when it asks a website for a page. A business whose website Stream runs can ask it to bring in the menu from a page of the business's own website, so the two show the same prices.

What it reads

  • Only the page the business asked for, on the business's own website, at the moment it asks. It doesn't follow links around a site or come back by itself.
  • That page, and up to 3 PDF menus it links to on the same site or where the site's website builder keeps its files.
  • Never ordering pages on Square, Clover, Toast or delivery apps, and never other sites about the business.

Stream's AI turns what it read into a list of changes, and the business checks every one before anything changes on its website. Stream doesn't keep the page.

How it introduces itself

StreamMenuReader/1.0 (+https://stream-holdings.com/menu-reader; reads one menu page for the business that asked)

How to stop it

StreamMenuReader follows robots.txt. To keep it away from your whole site, add this to the robots.txt at the root of your site:

User-agent: StreamMenuReader
Disallow: /

To keep it away from one part only, name that part instead, like Disallow: /menu. When robots.txt doesn't let it read a page, it doesn't, and the business is asked for a photo or a PDF of its menu instead.
